I have a new, Dell 8400 with Microsoft Office 2003 (Basic) installed.  It includes Outlook, Excel and Word.  I would like to install the Upgrade version of PowerPoint 2003.

One of the qualifying products for the PowerPoint 2003 upgrade version is Microsoft Office 97 Small Business Edition.  I have my original CD of this product.  I also have the CD of the upgrade version of PowerPoint 2000.

Will I need to actually install PowerPoint 97 or 2000 on the machine before it will do the upgrade, or will it ask me to point to the drive (cd rom drive) where it can find the qualifying product?

I don't want to have to install PowerPoint 97.  I know that it will make changes to my Office 2003 installation that I would prefer not to have made.

Thanks for your help.

Office upgrades generally require the product be installed to qualify.  It will NOT impact your '03 installation, just point to another directory.
