Hi Haimantee:

What is your Windows operating system and what edition of Microsoft Office (e.g., Microsoft 365, Microsoft Office Home and Business 2021 Click-to-Run, etc.) are you trying to reinstall? When you purchased your Vostro 15 3510 did you purchase an optional Microsoft Office license from Dell, or are you referring to the free one-month trial version of Microsoft Office that is pre-installed at the factory on many Dell computer models? Have you done anything recently (e.g., have you performed a clean reinstall of your operating system) that might have removed your Microsoft Office product key from your Windows registry?

If you purchase your Microsoft Office license from Dell then check to see if you have an app called Dell Digital Delivery on your computer - you might be able to re-download your software and access your license from your Dell Digital Locker. If Microsoft Office is not listed there then see the support article How to Find and Activate Microsoft Office 2019, 2021, or 365 on Your Dell Computer. If your service warrant has not expired you should be able to chat with a Dell customer support rep (click the red "Get Help Now" button in the bottom-right of each page on the Dell forum) and ask then for assistance with this.

Note that I purchased my own MS Office Home and Business 2019 Click-to-Run license from an authorized retailer called BestBuy (i.e., my license was not purchased from Dell) so if I need to reinstall my MS Office software then I can do so from the Services & Subscriptions tab of my Microsoft Account at https://account.microsoft.com/services/. My product key used to be shown there on the Services & Subscriptions tab, but in theory all I would need to do now to re-activate a fresh installation is open an office app like Excel or Word and sign in to my Microsoft Account. How you install and activate / re-activate Microsoft Office can vary depending on the product you own - see the MS support article Activate Office.

Hi Haimantee:

Sorry for not replying sooner. I was hoping someone who purchased a Microsoft Office 2021 product from Dell would respond to your question, but while you are waiting here is some additional information I found.

If you search this forum for "Office 2021" you will find several topics from users who purchased their MS Office 2021 product from Dell and had problems activating their license. According to Speedy63's 10-Dec-2021 post in Dell Techs Unable to Activate Office 2021 and Wont Refund MS Office 2021 products originally installed at the Dell factory have "a digital key and that it's supposed to auto install when I log into MS". I assume they meant a digital license (also called a digital entitlement), which is a new method of activation in Windows 10 and 11 that doesn't require a 25-character product key. That seems to be confirmed by the Microsoft Office support article Change Your Office Product Key, which states "Most versions of Office 2021 and Office 2019 don’t include a product key and you only need to sign in with the account already linked to your Office license." See the Microsoft APAC YouTube video How to Activate Pre-Installed Office Home & Student on Windows PC to see how activation of a digital license is done.

When you first purchased you computer from Dell were you able to use Microsoft Office Home and Student 2021 to create documents and spreadsheets? The Dell support article How to Find and Activate Microsoft Office 2019, 2021, or 365 on Your Dell Computer also says that you only need a Microsoft Account to activate a Microsoft Office product installed at the factory by Dell, and that the first time you launch Microsoft Office 2021 you should be automatically prompted to sign into your Microsoft Account and activate your license without needing a 25-character product key.

If you have a Microsoft Account did you sign in at https://account.microsoft.com/services/ to see if your Microsoft Office Home and Student 2021 product is already registered there and available for download? As long as you activated your Microsoft Office Home and Student 2021 license before you uninstalled Office, you should be able to download and re-install a "pre-activated" copy of your software from the Install link on the Services tab of your Microsoft Account.  Here's what I see in my Microsoft Account for my own Microsoft Office 2019  product:

To activate Microsoft Office, you typically need a valid activation key or product key. The activation key is a unique alphanumeric code that validates your license and allows you to use the full features of Microsoft Office. Here's how you can activate Microsoft Office using an activation key:

Launch any Microsoft Office application (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

A prompt will appear asking you to activate Office. Click on the "Activate" button or navigate to the "File" menu and select "Account" or "Help" (the exact location may vary depending on the Office version).

In the activation window, choose the option to enter the product key or activation key.

Enter the activation key in the provided field. Make sure to enter it correctly without any typos or errors.

Click on the "Activate" button or a similar option to initiate the activation process.

If the activation key is valid and matches the version of Microsoft Office you are using, the activation process will be successful, and you will receive a confirmation message. Your Microsoft Office suite is now activated and ready to use.
