how and where can I get floppy disk for windows nt 4.0

I have a dell opitplex gx 100
that someone gave me for my kid,
the only problem is I can't get into it because it has a password to get into windows nt.
it only has floppy drive.
how can I get past this password window?
I was looking on microsofts web site to see if I could download a floppy disk to reinstall windows nt 4.0, but all I can find are downloads for cd rom.
can any one help me??
thanks

You will need to reinstall Windows NT 4.0 from a Windows NT CD. You will also need the license sticker (to provide you the license key needed to install NT4).

I've been on microsofts web site but all I could find is Cd downloads no floppy disk.

I don't believe there's an option to install NT4 from floppies. Windows 98 on floppy was already something like 20+ floppy disks.

The NT4 install can be started from floppy disk (for computers that cannot boot from CD), but you still need the CD-rom to install the OS.

You won't be able to download Windows NT4 from the Microsoft site. It's not available via MSDN anymore either.

You're probably going to want to look into buying a CD and license for it, or consider looking for a CD and license of Windows 98SE or Windows 2000 Professional.

You can create the setup disks from the cd (four disks?) and use those to get your OS installed.  You could also try borrowing or buying an external cdrom drive to get you past that problem.

From the I386 folder on the NT4 cd run winnt /ox  (geez, it's been about 100 years since I needed that) :)

You can readily find floppy disk based utilities on the web - these use a cut down Linux and allow the administrator password to be overwritten.  This would allow you to keep the (presumably still licensed) currently installed NT...

I was given this dell optiplex gx100 I'm trying to get it running for my little nephew.
I found on dell web site the manaul it showed how to go in and erase the password, which I did but I'm still haveing trouble getting in to it, it only came with the floppy drive and I can't find windows nt in floppy disk.
I went to used computer store trying to buy cheap cd drive but the opening in the computer is very small.
the guy at the computer store said I might need lap top cd drive.
where on the web are you talking about?
thank you

Google is your friend!

A quick search located:

http://www.loginrecovery.com/  (there's a free service available on this page)

Warning - although I have used such tools in the past, I cannot verify any of the above in particular will work, but I believe if you are stuck it is worth a try.

Regarding the CDROM - you obviously have the SFF case which takes laptop CD drives.  Have a search on Google as the slimline CD drives are often to be found there.
