dell v305 wont print pdf files any more

Hello, I have a dell v305 printer been using since 2007. yesterday  was cleaning and accidently knocked power block back  out of socket. I didn't realize until I plugged printer in to use. SO i pushed it back in while plugged into wall socket. after that I could print word documents but when i try to print a pdf file i get an error message  "DOCUMENT COULD NOT BE PRINTED" I click ok than another error "THERE WERE NO PAGES SELECTED TO PRINT" .

Also I could not get Dell Imaging Tool Box to open. So I uninstalled the printer than reinstalled it from the disk that came with the printer. I can open the Imaging Tool Box again and can print word docs but get the same error messages when I try to print a pdf file.

Please don't tell me I need a new printer, lol.

thanks

needittowork,

Internet Explorer 11, usually found on Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 have issues with the Dell V Series Printers but you don't have the above mentioned operating systems.

Since Word documents are printing, then I would consider other options. I would consider uninstalling your pdf program, restart the computer, then reinstall it and see if you can then print the pdf's. Make sure when you first print, click on file, print and make sure the proper printer is selected. I have seen some programs default to the other options on the list.

needittowork,

ABBYY FineReader 6.0 Sprint is the OCR Program that is found on the printer disk. It is needed to scan documents and fax.

As for scanning, if you have the disk that came with the printer, then insert the Printer disk and stop it from running. Go to My Computer and double click on it. Look for the drive with the Dell disk in it. Right click on it, left click explore. Look for the OCR Folder. In the OCR Folder, there is an Abbyy Folder. Right click on setup.exe, that's in the Abbyy Folder and left click run as administrator. This will install the OCR program.

If you have Microsoft Word, you can open your document, then save as and change it to a pdf.

needittowork,

What operating system are you using?

Open the pdf, click on file, print and make sure the proper printer is selected?

What happen if you restart the computer, do the print job(s) in the queue print?

Hello, I am running Vista. The correct printer is selected. I'll try to send jobs to the queue and restart. But I can only send word docs there. Also I never noticed before but I get a different print window sending a pdf file to the printer than a word Doc. Can send you a screen shot if you need to see what I mean,

Thanks for th reply

needittowork,

Glad you got it working! Thanks for posting back.

If you need to add a program to scan to, try reading...

Update list of applications to send scans to

Take care,

Rick
