Dell Printer v313w - connecting it to the wifi

I have installed the printer drivers onto a new laptop. I am now trying to get the printer to connect to the wifi.

I did the following:

- went to Dell Printers

- Dell Printers Home

- clicked on Settings tab.

I was expecting to find the Wireless setup, but it is not there. How can I add this option?

Wallachian Wallaby,

What color is the WiFi light on the pritner?

What is the make and model of your computer and operating system? 32-bit or 64-bit?

What virus program and firewall are you using?

Do you have the printer disk?

Hi Rick,

Thank you for your reply.

the wifi light is currently flashing orange.

My PC is Advent 32 bit. The operating system is Windows 7.

The virus programme I am using is Bitdefender Total Security 2013.

I still have got the printer disk.

Kind regards,

WW

WW,

Orange light means the printer is not communicating with the router.

Make and model of your wireless router? Can you post Network Interface results back here?

Hi Rick,

The router I use is a BT Broadband one: Home Hub 3.0 Settings - Type B.

I have also investigated the hub name which is setup on the printer: it is the old one which I used at our previous home in September 2011. Since we moved house, we have never tried to use the printe in wifi mode. I tried to change this but with no luck.

Here are the results of the Network Interface:

There is 1 interface on the system:

   Name                   : Wireless Network Connection

Description            : 802.11b/g Mini Card Wireless Adapter

   GUID                   : b8d3022a-29f4-45db-9556-5eb101d2a478

   Physical address       : 00:24:21:cf:36:3f

   State                  : connected

   SSID                   : BTHub3-KGFH

   BSSID                  : bc:76:70:c9:c4:9a

   Network type           : Infrastructure

   Radio type             : 802.11g

   Authentication         : WPA2-Personal

   Cipher                 : CCMP

   Connection mode        : Auto Connect

   Channel                : 1

   Receive rate (Mbps)    : 412316.9

   Transmit rate (Mbps)   : 412316.9

   Signal                 : 80%

   Profile                : BTHub3-KGFH

Hosted network status  : Not started

Many thanks once again for your support. All the best,

WW

WW,

Sorry for the delay, long weekend and got a chance to sleep. :emotion-2:

Try chaning your router to channel 11. I will try to use your wireless routers settings. If they do not work, I use these Recommended Wireless Router Settings I use channel 11 and usually recommend making a new SSID to make connecting easier.

On the computer...

First run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print job(s) from the queue. A stuck print job will allow you to uninstall/reinstall and the problem comes back.

Make sure the printer is not usb cable connected.

Start, control panel, programs and features, Dell V313w Printer, uninstall.

Restart your computer.

Make sure the printer was removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal

With the computer online, insert the Dell V313w Printer disk, choose new installation, network and follow the instructions. It should ask for your network and password. When you disconnect the printer, the WiFi light should be green.

Also try reading...

Allow printer past Bitdefender

For a desktop, if the desktop, is plugged in to the wireless router, when installing the printer, use additional computer, network and follow the instructions. The desktop can print to the wireless priter with no cables attached.

To connect to the wireless you have to have the password
.
Printer option is with the owner of the router
.
And that is usualy direct to the Printer not via the router
.
The router only connects to the net not to personal hardware
.
Such as the printer
.
Most printers have that option to be wireless the devise that you want to connect has to have the
.
Printers installation CD installed
.
To make it possible to connect to the printer wireless
.
I have my iMac connected via Line
.
My MacBook Pro is wireless as is my IPad
