Dell Laser 1720 Mono not-duplex Pin / Sensor under Toner out of place

Cleaned a roller on the fuser and put assembly back and now when it turns on I get Paper Jam light. It makes no noise -- doesn't try to pick paper up.

Took fuser out and found a pin or sensor out of place. It detects that paper is moving over the area.

Anyway, I see this pin lying on the side and part of a spring. How to get to it?

I was able to solve it myself. I took pictures and am posting these below with what I did.
DISCLAIMER: this is unofficial, may void warranties, further break the machine, cause injury and death -- for entertainment purposes only.

00: Unplug machine, remove toner and paper tray. Flip machine over to locate cover screws shown. Remove two screws and lift roller arm to locate sensor assembly. Remove one screw to remove sensor assembly. Note assembly is keyed to only go in one way.

01: Parts exploded and installed. Note that torsion spring has a hook end and straight end. At this point locate notch in Pin for hook end spring.

02: With smooth side of pin facing you, put spring on left side arm with spring hook in notch. Carefully taping this end down makes installation easier (but if the tape gets loose in operation it can jam the sensor). Install pin on holder as shown, then push straight end of spring around and into straight notch on holder. I used two tweezers: one to push it down into the gap and another to grab it and pull it to the notch. If done right, pushing the smooth part of the pin will allow it to spring back to the vertical. (At this point you might want to carefully remove the tape on the hook).

Now reinstall sensor assembly, flip machine right-side up, install paper, toner, plug everything in and test.

Unfortunately, my database has no information that shows how to retrieve the pin and spring.

Thanks for checking. I'm going to turn it upside and operate.

So it was easy to flip over and just remove one panel to get to the parts. There is a sensor holder with a circuit board and wires, the sensor and a spring. The problem is how these parts go together.

There seems to be no mechanical contact between the sensor and the circuit board. This would be a clue on how things go back together. Does anyone know if there is a piece missing or if the circuit board uses IR light to detect the position of the sensor pin.
