Dell 3130cn Printer network interface not functioning

Hi,

I recently reset my Dell 3130cn printer's settings to factory default. I also reset the LAN interface. After I did that, the network interface stopped working.

The printer is not able to obtain an IP address. There are no solid or blinking lights on the ethernet port in the back of the printer, and the printer shows its network/IP status as "unknown."

What should I do? I'm wondering if the network interface is fried. I have never seen this problem until recently. The rest of the printer's functions seem to work fine.

Hello Josh,

Your options are limited, the replacement ESS board (Y507D) costs north of $400 dollars. Based on that I would recommend the replacement of the unit. Otherwise you can connect the printer via USB and share it out on the network thru the PC.

Hello Josh,

Thank you for posting to the forum. The information you provided does lead to a possible failure of the NIC card. Before going further though I would recommend trying a different network cable and port on your router/switch to make sure they are not the cause of your issue.

Regards,
Joseph E

Yes, I did try connecting to a different port using a different cable, but I still don't have any blinking/solid lights on the printer's NIC. I also tested the ports and cables with a laptop to make sure it wasn't a cable or port problem.

If it really is a NIC card failure, what are my options (besides replacing the printer)? The USB port works.
