Limit battery charge to 50-80% on legacy Dell laptops such as Precision M4300

“To help extend battery life and performance, try to keep the battery level between 20% and 80% ... Batteries that are more fully charged … may lose capacity faster. If you need to store your device for a long period of time, it’s best to make sure the battery level is below 50% but not completely drained before storing your device.”

It seems power-related Dell apps, such as:

- “Dell Feature Enhancement Pack” DFEP ( https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=t4p15 ),

- “Dell Power Manager” on Windows 10/11 – “DPM is a successor to Dell Feature Enhancement Pack (DFEP). DPM and DFEP should not be installed on the same system” ( https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9PD11RQ8QC9K?hl=en-us&gl=US , https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000177768/guide-to-dell-power-manager#Battery_Settings ) ,

-  “Dell Power Manager Lite” on Windows 7/8 ( https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=33rnp ),

- “My Dell” on Windows 10/11 ( https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9PN7T3JFPRZ6?hl=en-us&gl=US

enable users to limit battery charge to 50-80%, thus extending its lifespan, especially if the laptop is mostly used on AC: https://www.dell.com/community/en/conversations/inspiron/limit-battery-charge-to-80/647f9bf4f4ccf8a8deff617f

Apps check for supported models, do not install on legacy laptops.

Is there a Dell app that supports popular legacy laptops such as Precision M4300 (Latitude D830) that would enable users to limit battery charge to 50-80%?

Dell QuickSet, v.8.2.14, A05 ( https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=7x2kt&oscode=wlh&productcode=precision-m4300 ) with “POWER: Power management schemes, Battery resource information and health, Warning messages unsupported power-adapter/dock/battery scenarios are detected” does not seem to have this feature…

Following pages do not seem to provide an answer either:

Thank you.

To save you time, there is no amount of Dell Tools, Dell Apps, can extend the battery health of a 15 years old system.  Dell ceased to support the device after 7 years.  So any of OEM battery for the M4300 would already passed their shelf life.

True. Still, the old laptop battery at least works as uninterruptible power supply (UPS), providing decent amount of time to comfortably finish any work. As it was never heavily used, the goal is to avoid unnecessary self-damage to the battery that would be caused by keeping it charged at 100% while on AC, if at all possible.

It would also be interesting to learn, since when (year/models) this feature became available.

There is information on this forum that threshold for battery charge feature had not existed as late as June 2016:
