Dell Precision 7680 Core i9 , Heating and CMOS battery Failure

Hi Dell,

I have two issues with my DELL,

I have a brand new Precision 7680 mobile workstation, I bought it 4 months ago. The specs are below

Processor 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-13950HX   2.20 GHz
Installed RAM 64.0 GB (63.7 GB usable)
Device ID ABE11C66-9CA7-4CFD-90BA-B19F2761675A
Product ID 00355-61125-00530-AAOEM
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch Touch support with 10 touch points

GeForce RTX 4090 16GB

Win 11/ Ubuntu 22.04 Dual boot

The Inter Turbo boost is off but still the system gets very hot on simulation launch, I am using

NVIDIA ISAAC SIM.

I already has one thermal shutdown, but afterwards i Put the laptop on adjustable stand so that there is some space between the lower surface of the laptop and the table top.

But now I am having this weird CMOS battery failure, signaled by the Diagnostic LED blinking.
Three times Amber and one time white.

I don't understand this laptop is new, why is it having a CMOS failure...?

Should I return it to DEll to get it replaced..?

what should I do for both issues, please help

Khan

Calling Dell tech support would be my first suggestion. To return a unit it has to be less that 30 days after you receive the system and that time has passed. Is it possible the CMOS battery is a problem, possibly as I have purchased new batteries that did not operated properly due to low voltage. But again call Dell tech support first.

The issue is this CMOS error started to appear after there was a recent update on one of the DELL applications within WIN11, before everything was fine, only the heating issue.

The problem is the CMOS battery is installed deep within the layers of the hardware and its not easy to get it out, everything has to be opened and detached. This CMOS signal is random, sometimes it starts to appear and some times its totally off but there already has been a memory error shutdown one as the system could not boot yesterday.

I don't know what to do.  I also don't see anyone from dell commenting here

@Khan_Dell Hi, I have the same issue. Sometimes, the error is not there when I boot my laptop. But, it's still annoying when it shows the error "time and date not set". I had this issue after I removed the lithium battery.

How did you do the diagnostic?

I'm thinking of replacing the CMOS battery but I want to make sure, that is the issue. My laptop just turned 3 years old. I think this is too early for it to drain.
