Dell Precision 5530 - Audio Driver Issues
Hello,
I have a Dell Precision 5530. I'm having issues with the audio driver. If the laptop is already on and I plug in my headphones, the laptop does not detect them. However, If I plug them in before I turn the laptop on or restart my laptop (if it was already on) the headphones are detected, and they work fine.
I have tried the following:
- Updating Windows (Including the optional Driver Updates)
- Use Dell Command Update to check from updated drivers
- Check updated Drivers from the Dell Support website using my browser
- I have also tried uninstalling drivers from the Device Manager
Nothing has fixed the problem so far.
The headphone work fine with other devices. I have also tried a different pair of headphones the behavior was identical.
OS Info:
Edition: Windows 11 Home

Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22642.1000.0
Audio Driver: Realtek(R) Audio 6.0.8991.1
BIOS Version 1.31.0
Please let me know if any additional information is required. Thank You

The Realtek audio driver requires the Waves MaxxAudio Pro or Dell Optimizer application to be installed to have full functionality. Check to see if Waves MaxxAudio Pro is installed and is enabled in startup apps.
If it is installed properly, you should see a popup asking to confirm the plug-in device when connecting the headphones. If there was no popup, you may resolve the issue by reinstall the Realtek audio driver. Restart the system and allowing a few minutes for the audio driver self installation, Waves Maxx included.
You may also manually click on Scan for hardware changes in Device Manager. When installation is complete, testing with headphones connection to see audio popup message, select headphones, then select type (over-ear, on-ear, earbud). It will give you a better experience listening.
