Dell Precision T5820 HDD Caddy stuck

I added a 3.5" HDD to my workstation using the supplied HDD caddy:

I now cannot get the caddy out of the workstation, it is stuck here and will not come out any further despite considerable effort to 'persuade' it:

I am able to insert and remove a 2.5" drive in the adjacent slot without any problem.

Can anyone suggest how I can remove the HDD and Caddy without resorting to a complete machine disassemble.

Thanks,

David

According to the service manual releasing the lever should do it. It may be that the caddy is jammed or caught internally and may require some disassembly to free it. Force is the last thing you want to do.

EDIT:

Just curious, after you inserted the HDD into the caddy did it slide easily into the system? I am thinking that the HDD may not be fully seated in the caddy causing the caddy to bind in the system.

The Caddy slid in without any issues, did not feel stiff or tight. The HDD connects to the back plane just fine. It just will not come out.
