Dell 5820T won't stop beeping
I have a Dell 5820T with AVAGO MegaRAID SAS-MFI RAID controller. 4 disk configured in RAID 10. When the tower was powered off I pulled out a drive and started the computer, Windows 10 loaded with no issues but the computer won't stop beeping. I did shut it off and place the 4th drive back but the beeping won't stop.
Looking at the beep pattern found here, this is either a 1-1-1 (not found in the table) or 3-3-3 (RTC/Keyboard controller not found) issue, my keyboard works fine. I did try removing, and re-adding the controller, no luck. I tried accessing it from F12, no luck, it's not showing up. While Windows boots, all space is available and neither BIOS/UEFI nor Windows is showing any error just the constant beeping is driving my crazy. If I remove the RAID controller the beep does cease but I also have no hard drives
Does anyone have an idea:
- how to stop the beeping?
- how to change RAID configuration?
Thank you!

at worst you can use method 2 , the usb stick in fat32 + storcli , and configure by command line

Hello,
99.99% the beep is not from the pc (and is not an error related to the pc) but it's from the raid controller. It's the alarm that kicks in when something "bad" (like a disk being removed this way hot) happens.
If at boot you get a message saying ctrl-something to enter the controller configuration, do it and look at the option to reset the alarm.
Otherwise look at that option in the management console for the raid card within windows ( assuming you have one installed )
And yes, it will drive you crazy until you fix it... the idea is to be loud and allow to find the location having issues when the controller is installed in a server room

The sounds is coming form the RAID card.
I did do the steps listed on the link you shared before posting here, (actually I spent a few hours debugging before posting ) but the thing is under the F12 menu there is no AVAGO EFI SAS Drive menu. I tried booting the computer from both UEFI and BIOS. Nothing.

I do see during boot (in BIOS mode only, nothing in UEFI) when the RAID controller is listing it's details (HDD count, status message) but it doesn't say what key combination to press to enter edit mode. I know usually is ctrl + i but doesn't work, I also tried ctrl + shift +i

Try CTRL-R , or ctrl-m, and it's quite strange that it doesn't show the line with "press xxx to configure"
What about the current megaraid management software in windows ? Isn't it installed to handle the array ? You can disable the alarm that way, too

ctrl + M or R didn’t help. Now it’s taking much longer to boot Windows, maybe because I adjusted BIOS/UEFI many times.
Hoping only beeps while it’s rebuilding the RAID, in order to not hear the beeping I moved the computer to the basement and wait a few hours.
Cheers for the engineers who thought this beeping it’s a good idea.

Partial victory!!
I downloaded MegaRAID from . TOS76> (a bit confusing since I wanted for a Dell computer) and I was able to mute the alarm, yay!
The raid is rebuilding.
I can see options to configure different RAID levels, good, I’m not sure how can this be done if I’d like to reconfigure the RAID that is currently used and is under my Windows. Maybe it will reboot and do the changes then?

Sigh. You can disable the alarm also from the megaraid management software that gets installed on windows... maybe is already installed.
And
1. When the host computer is booting, hold down the Ctrl key and press the H key when the following text appears on the window: Copyright© Avago Technologies Press for WebBIOS The Controller Selection window appears. 2. If the system contains multiple SAS/SATA controllers, select a controller. 3. Click Start. The main WebBIOS CU window appears.

The management application from dell

assuming is a MegaRAID 9440-8i or 9460-16i

and documentation that includes those 2 controllers setup

Don't reconfigure, you would lose all the data and would end having to reinstall. This said it would do the changes on apply and crash windows just after, I guess.
There must be a way to get into the same config utility located in the controller while booting, actually you could maybe find the key combo from the megaraid software, or find out how the controller bios is set.
Strange that who sold you the computer didn't install the management software nor leave you instructions

I reinstalled the OS from scratch, didn't want to have any leftover from the previous owner.
Since there is nothing on the system I don't mind losing all data, just will require a fresh OS install. Indeed it is 9460, I'm going to wait for it to rebuild the RAID so surely I won't hear any beeping noises.
At next boot I'm going to try holding down the Ctrl key and press the H upon seeing Copyright© Avago Technologies
Thank you for the Dell management application and the manual

Yw , if you don't mind me asking, what capacity are the hard disks ? And what raid level is now configured ?
Also, according to the document I linked last, those 2 controllers can apparently be configured only while on uefi > F12 ( page 40, chapter 6 )

The disk are 1.8TB x 4 in RAID 10, my plan is to do 1.8TB x 3 in RAID 5 and keep one drive for the bad days.
Page 40, chapter 6, I saw it, thanks you! Once current rebuild operations is done I'm going to look again and see if I can find that in UEFI under F12

Thanks for the heads up, yes, that's very true!
RAID rebuild done. I rebooted in UEFI and entered F12, I do see the AVAGO EFI SAS Driver, I can enter but no where to configure anything.
If I boot from BIOS I can see the AVAGO setup but CTRL + H or any other combination I tried doesn't work.
See some attached photos.
