Expansion ME5 volume

Hi expert


Is it possible to expansion single volume with 10K SAS Disks different capacity 1.2TB and 2.4TB  


existing RAID 5 RG1 and RG2 with 1.2TB 10K SAS Disks

new expansion RAID 5 RG3 with 2.4TB 10K SAS Disks

Well it will depend on if you are using linear or virtual pools. If you are using virtual pools, then the volume resides on the pool, which is made up of one or more disk groups. In this case, it is possible to add a 3rd disk group with those larger disks. Any volume in that pool will have blocks residing on all the disk groups, so the volume will get spread across to the new disk group as well. However, from a performance perspective, having multiple 3-disk raidsets in the pool may not be ideal, but it should technically work.
