Storage Network Configuration

Hi All,

I need a advise and guidance on some part on storage network configuration on PowerStore 1200T. I already configure the storage network detail in PowerStore (after the initial setup of PowerStore) and now got stuck on the port map during the storage network configuration as I need specify the port. Currently, for the planning, the data network I will connect the cable to port FEport0 and FEport1 (bond0) on node A and node B in the PowerStore and this will connected to data switch A and B as per below (as follow PowerStore document)

But currently the issue is, customer only have 1 data switch and now we for a moment, we only connected to 1 port in each node in PowerStore (which is only connected to FEPort 0 on node A and node B to switch) due to this constraint.

Due to this current connection, I would like to ask a few to for clarification with an expert here on the configuration part.

1) As only 1 port connected on each data port on PowerStore, when configuring the storage network, I'm not able able to map any port during the configure the data network (including the port that up). So, if we not map the port on storage network, what effect to the storage network configuration? As per now, I able to configure the IP but i left the map port.

I really need help on this as I not very understand on this although I already go through the documentation. Thanks

Regards,

Zul

If you are not using for any replication or cluster expansion , you can use Port 2 on 4-port card, moreover you can not connect FEport 0 (which is in bond )to the same switch as per PowerStore networking docs.

Connect the network cables on node A:
a. Port 0 of the embedded module connects to switch 1.
b. Port 1 of the embedded module connects to switch 2.

Connect the network cables on node B:
a. Port 0 of the embedded module connects to switch 2.
b. Port 1 of the embedded module connects to switch 1.

So I believe you can connect to port 2 and try, though I am not expert just sharing mu view. Good Luck
