Trouble with powerpath 4.3.4 connected to linux server
Hi,
I am currently trying to connect a linux server to properly connect to a Disk array over iSCSI. I installed powerpath, but when I run powermt config, nothing comes up. Also, when running powermt display, no HBA's, I/O paths, and stats are shown, so I'm not sure if powermt does not detect any connections, or if I did not specify or configure them properly? (I followed the documentation)
We set up a connection with Navisphere Express, but it shows that the SP/port status is inactive. I can ping both iSCSI SP ports, but I am unable to connect to them with the server. Also when I run the navisphere server utility from another box connected on the switch, it shows that no servers are connected(even though they are). Do I need to run the server utility specifically from the actual linux server I am using? and If so, where can I find a Linux version of that software?
The hardware we are currently using is:
Server running Linux Enterprise Version 3.2.3-54
Kernel : 2.4.21-47.ELsmp
Disk array Model : AX150SCi
Powerpath version 4.3.4 (build 4)
If anyone can provide insight as to whats going wrong, or what I need to do to fix this problem, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

- Ensure that you have assigned LUN(s) to the Storage Group in Navisphere manager.
- Install NaviCLI and host agent... available from PowerLink...
Support > Downloads > CLARiiON NaviCLI
- Ensure that CLARiiON can see the iSCSI initiators logging into the array. ("Connectivity status" on NaviSphere manager)
- Ensure at least one Lun in the Storage group has a Host ID of 0.
There is excellent documentation available, there are three guides which I recommend you review...
- "EMC Host connectivity guide for Linux" available on PowerLink:
Support > Documentation/White Paper Library > Host Connectivity/HBAs > Installation/Configuration
- "Installation Roadmap for CLARiiON arrays"
- "EMC iSCSI with QLogic Host Bus Adapters for the Linux v2.4.x Kernel Environment and the v5.x-Series Drivers" available on PowerLink
