steps need to be done when doing SAN MIGRATION online

Hello,

what is the best practise procedure to reconfigure powerpath when we are making san migration on SUN/Linux hosts online

Note Both old switch and new are connected with ISL.and active zone sets are the same between them.

I'll assume that the reconfiguration you are performing might be (but not limited to) any of the following:

  • Removing or adding HBAs
  • Adding, removing, or changing storage system logical devices
  • Changing the cabling routes between HBAs and storage system ports
  • Adding or removing storage system interfaces

The "PowerPath for * Installation and Administration Guide" has a section that covers this and is appropriately named "Reconfiguring PowerPath devices online".  You can find both the Solaris and Linux Guides on PowerLink as follows:

Home > Support > Technical Documentation and Advisories > Software ~ P-R ~ Documentation > PowerPath Family > PowerPath > Installation/Configuration

Hello,

The host connectivity Guide for each OS may have some helpful information as well.

Available on powerlink at:

Home > Support > Technical Documentation and Advisories > Host Connectivity/HBAs > Installation/Configuration

Hope this helps,
