Powerpath/VE ERROR: Host not found

I have a few ESX servers that, according to the vSphere client, have Powerpath installed and the LUNs are owned by Powerpath When I try to query the server I get "ERROR: host not found" which of course is not true. What could be causing this error?  Thanks.

# rpowermt check_registration host=hostname.domain.net

ERROR: Host not found

Hi! I suggest you open a Support case for this issue.  I did a search in Support and found a similar case/error message: emc252291.  The resolution was to open a port and then it worked.

Ok, this isn't a firewall issue but I will open case.  Thanks

There could be multiple reasons. But as suggested please open a support ticket.

As per PowerPath/VE Installation guide

Reason for ERROR: Host not found.

A specified lockbox exists, and specified host is not present.
A supplied hostname or IP address cannot be reached,
or there is a TCP port conflict.

Addition to that I would recommend,
+ Recreate lockbox
+ Check for any Anti-virus or 3rd party product installed at this time that would interfere.
+ Run the command with ESX(i) host IP address.
+ Run the command from different RTOOLS/rpowermt server

I had a similar issue. My RTOOLS server was on a linux VM. I had to unset the LD_LIBRARY_PATH and it started working.

Hi Daniel,

Can you provide some further information about your environment

* Is this a HP system?

* What version of ESX are your running

* What version of VSphere and Plugin are you running?

Kind Regards,

Martin
