Powerpath licensing on AIX

Hello,

I'd like to know wether Powerpath licensing for AIX is independent of LPARs and is only related to physical CPUs (physical sockets)?? Is that assumption right or wrong?

On the other hand, if I have a licensing key for an AIX host, do I have to config this key to all LPARs belonging to that host?

Thanks a lot,

Yes, you can enter the same license key for each LPAR on the host,

Hi Dan - PowerPath for AIX neither counts nor cares about LPARs. All licensing enablement is done at the physical host level.

Commercially speaking is alright. But technically speaking, at the time of deploying, when setting everything up in the host, I think we have to fulfill a key license in each and every LPAR...is that right? Is that "key" the same in all LPARs of the same AIX host?

Thanks,
