PowerPath License Management Administration Help

How would someone go about getting a handle on PowerPath Licenses and Licensing? Our previous Storage Admin neglected to document what licenses we have and which servers received full license keys. At the time EMC had not yet converted to managing licenses electronically. In a nut shell I need to find out what we are supposed to have in terms of licenses, figure out what servers are were fully licensed, etc... I was able to pull a report via the EMC Licensing Portal, however I can't say for certain how accurate the information is or whether or not everything is correct. I have no way determine if EMC updated the database with the licenses that existed prior to converting to an electronic database. I'm starting to realize that this is going to be chaotic and need help putting the pieces together. Are there tools or scripts available that can scan our entire SAN and locate every server that is running PowerPath fully licensed? Looking for some direction and help.

Thank you

Depending on your EMC hardware, some of your arrays can help you.  VMAX and VNX can both export host lists with all of the connected hosts, OS versions and PowerPath versions, which can at least show you which hosts are connecting using PowerPath.  However, it can't help with version information or licensing.

Long, long ago, PowerPath Viewer let you perform discovery of PowerPath installations and such.  Your EMC sales team might be able to obtain a copy for you and help install it.

Let me know if this helps!

This is great feedback. We are almost exclusively VNX with XtremIO. I'm going to take a look and research your suggestion to try and export the host list. Are you telling me to do this via command line or via gui? Thanks for the help.
