Best practice for moving from PowerPath 5.6 to 5.7 SP3 on Oracle Linux 6.5

We are currently attempting to upgrade our Oracle Database servers to the latest UEK3 Kernel.  Currently we are running  2.6.32-100.34.1.el6uek.x86_64 with EMC powermt for PowerPath (c) Version 5.6 P 01 (build 5).   These servers are running Oracle 11g databases, Oracle enterprise manager 12c and RAC/Clusterware,  We are using Oracle ASM as well.

I booted to the new UEK3 Kernel and then tried to do an upgrade of PowerPath but it told me I had to be on 5.7.1 to upgrade.  I can't find much mention about what to do in this situation.  Would the best course of action to be to remove PowerPath keeping the configuration intact and just install the new version?  We are not sure what we need to backup in case of issues.  If someone could offer some insight that would be great.

Thanks.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for reaching out and sorry for the delay in answering. We have discussed this internally and our engineering team feels that they need to better understand the issue before they recommend any solution.

So, I’d request you to raise a Service ticket (SR) at www.support.emc.com with all the details. Our team will do the necessary analysis and come back to you soon.

Thanks ,
