Suspected malfunction of the H730P mini RAID controller.
I recently acquired an R730 with an H730P Mini RAID controller, and I suspect there might be an issue with it that I can't pinpoint.
A few days ago, I added some disks to this server and performed a CLEAR operation on them. The disks in question are:
4x HDD TOSHIBA AL14SEB120N
4x SSD KINGSTON SEDC600
2x HDD Seagate ST600MP0005
I configured the following RAID arrays:
RAID 1 - S.O (2x HDD Seagate ST600MP0005)
RAID 5 - Storage-HDD (4x HDD TOSHIBA AL14SEB120N)
RAID 5 - Storage-SSD (4x SSD KINGSTON SEDC600)
My suspicion is that there's a problem with the controller because the disks frequently go offline, become faulted, even before installing the OS.
What validations can I perform to identify the root cause of the problem?
I've also tried configuring the controller as an HBA and couldn't boot the ProxMox ISO (the system I'll be using).
My main question is: why are the disks failing even before there's a heavy workload on the server? And also, what validations can I perform on the server to identify the root cause of the problem?
How can I verify if the RAID controller is 100% functional?

Hello, welcome back to our community.
I see the disks that you are using are not Dell certified, meaning there isn't much we can help with, apart from bring the firmware up to date:
https://dell.to/4dah8wt
Version
25.5.9.0001, A17
Release date
05 Mar 2024
Should you wish to investigate further, you can collect TSR logs and and raise an official ticekt to your region support. https://dell.to/4dqXjBj However I reckon the same issue might be brought up.
Respectfully,

Now the disks are all okay, but the Proxmox performance is HORRIBLE. Everything is slow, and looking at iostat, it's even slower...
I JUST CREATED the VMs and it already has a 25% IO DELAY.
Could it be a problem with the controller? Because the SSDs are new, I just took them out of the box.
