Kirti25,

I am willing to bet that the issues is the pendrive. What I would suggest, if you have an iDrac Enterprise License, is to mount the OS ISO to the iDrac and install from it. Now to clarify how are you trying to install the OS, just by booting to the USB, or were you trying to go through the Lifecycle Controller? I ask as you may need to update the OS driver pack before proceeding with the Lifecycle Controller route, you can find the OS Driver Pack here

Let me know.

PowerEdge R720 is unable to detect the boot media neither from CD nor from Bootable Pendrive. The same CD and bootable pendrive is working in other system.

If your PowerEdge R720 server is unable to detect the boot media from both a CD and a bootable USB drive, while the same media works on another system, there could be several potential causes for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

1. Verify boot order: Check the server's BIOS or UEFI settings to ensure that the boot order is correctly configured. The boot media (CD or USB) should be set as the first boot option.

2. Check media compatibility: Make sure that the bootable CD or USB drive is compatible with the PowerEdge R720 server. It's possible that the server has specific requirements or limitations for bootable media.

3. Test different bootable media: Try using a different bootable CD or USB drive on the PowerEdge R720. If another bootable media works while the original one does not, it suggests a problem with the specific media you initially tried.

4. Update firmware and drivers: Ensure that the server's firmware (BIOS/UEFI) and drivers are up to date. Outdated firmware or drivers can sometimes cause compatibility issues with bootable media.

5. Check USB ports: If you're using a bootable USB drive, try connecting it to different USB ports on the server. Sometimes, certain ports may have compatibility issues.

6. Reset BIOS/UEFI settings: If all else fails, you can try resetting the server's BIOS/UEFI settings to their default values. This can be done by either clearing the CMOS settings or using the BIOS/UEFI menu options.

7. Hardware issues: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's possible that there could be a hardware problem with the server's CD/DVD drive, USB ports, or the motherboard itself. In such cases, contacting Dell support or a qualified technician for further assistance is recommended.

Remember to exercise caution when making changes to BIOS/UEFI settings, and ensure that you have a backup of any critical data before proceeding.
