Can Windows 11 be run on a PowerEdge R740 System?
We have some Dell PowerEdge R740 servers with added GPU cards presently serving in a role as automated test systems. Specifically, we have need for end-user OSs on these particular systems as they're doing UI testing a GUI application.
We already have Windows 10, fully updated, on these systems, but are unsure if Windows 11 can be installed on them. Has anyone here had experience doing this?
Can Windows 11 be successfully installed and kept up to date on a PowerEdge R740?
We're trying to straddle the line between controlled server environment and quality and providing a run-time environment more closely matching what users will see.
Thanks in advance for any wisdom on this you're willing to share.

Answering my own question for the benefit of others who might come by here...

Hi @Noel Carboni,
I'm pretty sure you're here for community advice from the public users. From Dell support point of perspective, client Windows aren't verified for PowerEdge, hence I am unable to provide any good advice nor information that can help you make the decision to upgrade to Windows 11.

Heh, well, I certainly wouldn't refuse advice from you / Dell, but I understand your being restricted from advising on something that doesn't have approval. Thanks for bumping up the thread anyway.
We have a guy on it who's a wizard at making things work. I suspect he'll find a way. I'll continue to watch for any advice or experience here also. Thanks.

Hello everyone,
I do not want to run Windows11 directly on the server, but in a Hyper-V under the server operating system Windows Server 2022. Is this possible?
Many thanks for an answer

Hello,
You can install Windows Server 2022 and use the Hyper-V Roll to set up a Windows 11 virtual machine.

You may post on a Microsoft Forum as you may need to have proper licensing also.

I installed win11 on my R720 but it looks like a bunch of system devices are missing drivers. Anyone managed to install them all?
