R640 & PERC S140 - Configuring raid, hard drives are not detected
Hi,
I've added 2 PCIe SSD Adapter with 4 SSD onto the PCIe Expansion Risers (I have the one with 3) and the disk are not detected by the system nor the PERC S140, I can see the disk on the Guest OS but I want to create a Raid with those disks.
I've tried the latest firmare from the Bios and the Idrac and nothing.
The bios is in UEFI mode, the PCIe Adapters are shown on the hardware inventary,
Perhaps there is something I'm not doing it or there is a step I'm missing
Thanks in advance

Omaryer87,
Would you confirm some details for me?
Whats the part numbers on the adapters, ssd, and risers?
How and where do you have them connected?
If you boot to the S140, what do you see listed?
Let me know what you see.

Hi,
SSD Adapter: PEX8M2E2
SSD PM: MZVL21T0HBLU
And the Riser could be CN-08150M-IP100?
Sorry but I only have a couple of pictures
And the S140 hardware list is empty

SSD Adapter and drives you are using is not supported in R640. As it is not supported we can not guarantee that it will work as it is not validated. Even if it get detected I do not believe it will be shown in S140. It will be shown as separate controller in BIOS
R640 support one BOSS S1 controller with 2 M.2(SATA SSD) drives. You will be able to created RAID with BOSS S1. You can find the details below
https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-us/boss-s-1/boss_s1_ug_publication
Below are the part# of BOSS controller
7HYY4 - ASSY,CRD,CTL,BOSS.S1V5,SATA,FH
61F54 - ASSY,CRD,CTL,BOSS.S1V5,SATA,LP
If you are looking for NVMe PCIe adapter storage you can use below HHHL cards. For HHHL cards you will not be able to create RAID
