Lost Delayed - Write Data error. event ID 50, source Ft disk
Hi,
I am running windows 2000 service pack 4.0 on dell powerege 2600 server. It is configured on raid 5. It is also running MSSQL database. We have started getting following error, which keeps on coming every 20 -25 days.
Following is the error i have found from eventlog.
Event Type: warning
Event Source: Ftdisk
event ID: 50
Date:
Time:
User: N/A
Computer:
Description:
{Lost Delayed-Write Data} The system was attempting to transfer file data from buffers to \Device\HarddiskVolume4. The write operation failed, and only some of the data may have been written to the file.
Then when i reboot machine, this error disappears and everthin work fine for another 20 days. It seems that something is dynamically growing and getting flushed after every reboot.
couple of months back we have installed .net on this. and after installing .net we have started getting this problem.
I spoke to dell technician, but they are not having any clue and they forwarded me microsoft link and told me it's microsoft memory manangement issue. On microsoft knowledge base i have read this issue is been taken care by windows 2000 service pack 2.0.
can anybody help me what could be the cause of this error. Is this .net which might have corrupted service pack 4 or it's something with hardware issue. Any help or suggestion would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Hemal

To rule out a hardware error I can recommend diagnostics and verifying the System BIOS, ESM Firmware, DRAC/ERA Firmware (if installed), as well as the latest system drivers are at the latest revision.
Dell Diagnostics
System BIOS
Embedded Server Management (ESM)
Embedded Remote Access (ERA/O) Firmware
The drivers / firmware below are assuming you have the standard configuration. I would need the Service Tag Number of your server, to be more specific.
Network Interface Controller
Video Controller
Perc 4/di driver and firmware
Thanks
