Disk Predictive Failure
Hello,
I have a Dell R620 with the following config :
- RAID PERC H710 Mini
- 8x 900GB Mechanical Drives
- Raid 6 Setup - 1 Virtual Drive
Last night server started to run slow, and i had to reboot.
After reboot i received the following :
Device: /dev/bus/0 [megaraid_disk_03], SMART Failure: SERVO IMPENDING FAILURE SEEK ERROR RATE TOO HIGH
Given the situation, what would be the best way to resolve the issue safely ?
Thank you in advance!

Hi,
From the error, disk ID3 is definately having a predictive failure from a servo failure. The drive is failing to correctly position these heads often enough, leading to a higher error rate for data seek operations. To be safe, you will need to do a full data backup before you replace the drive.
Please check if you have the option to offline the drive, from the given screenshots. Before you replace the drive, you will need to offline the drive. Then pull out the drive and replace with an exact matched drive specification. The rebuild should take effect soonest when PERC H710 detects the drive. If it doesn't give it a few minutes and check in Virtual Disk properties, status.

@MikeTango Verify the part number replace the drive and check the raid status again.
do verify the New disk sometimes it contains the previous config if you are going for a refurbished one.
