adding PERC H755 controller to existing Linux OS (not detected)
Hello. I have a PowerEdge R550 server that has a BOSS-S2 controller installed (2 drives, RAID 1) - this virtual disk has the OS (RHEL 8.6) installed on it. That boot disk is currently designated as /dev/sda .
We then added a PERC H755 controller in order to add 8 additional SAS disks. I've created the virtual disk as RAID5 (in the iDRAC) and everything is online.
HOWEVER - RHEL will absolutely NOT see the PERC controller at all (and therefore cannot see the virtual disk)... I've rebooted the server, re-scanned the scsi bus, (re)installed the SAS drivers I downloaded from Dell's site. The PERC controller simply isn't being detected by the OS. Not sure what next steps should be. Help!

Hi @n3rdette,
I'm not good in Linux, I'll try to help with your issue.
Since you are able to create raid in iDRAC, that means the server is able to detect the PERC and drives. But the OS is not able to detect the PERC. Have you tried reseating the PERC controller?
Is this a production server? If no, is it possible to try removing the BOSS-S2 and try to install a test RHEL OS on the PERC RAID array?
Would it be PERC H755 firmware? Have you tried updating it?
Do you have the H755's DPN#, could you provide me.
