Where to get replacement Expansion Card Retainer Clips 03J398
We have a number of older PowerEdge servers which all use the same plastic retainer clips (03J398) to keep expansion cards in place, and due to age and the way these clips were designed many of them have been broken at the round tab that puts pressure to the expansion card's slot bracket.
I tried finding replacements but the only ones I could find were 2nd hand clips on ebay which were removed from scrapped servers and which are likely to fail soon as well.
The Dell website for "spares" is a joke as it merely lists some expansion cards, network transceivers, external cables and parts that have nothing to do with servers (like laptop batteries). And Dell blocks contacting support if a product is out of warranty.
So how does a Dell customer get spare parts for their older PowerEdge servers from Dell? And in particular, how can I buy new 03J398 replacement retainers?

Hello,
The part number #3J398 is a Service part number. They do not generally come up on the web site.
You would need to call Sales and ask for the Spare Part Department.
They can give you quote for purchase depending on availability.

@DELL-Charles R thanks, I'll give this a try.
It's a bit disappointing, though, that in 2024 I can't just find and order spare parts through the website. Something which we have been able to do for HP/HPE kit for over a decade.
