Where to find SSD Temp on iDRAC 9?
Hello,
I try to find the SSD Temp Sensor value in iDRAC 9 on a PowerEdge T440.
When running the ePSA(Pre-boot System Assessment) I'll see under System Health, the SSD temp. See picture bellow.
Also my SSD Samsung PM1633a 086DD run at 50 Celcius under no load. I guess thats a bit to hot, is'nt?
Best Regards

Hello,
System > Overview > Cooling should list all your temperature sensor probe outputs. The system I'm looking at doesn't have SSDs, so I can't confirm whether or not there is data output specifically for SSDs. I'll link to the iDRAC9 manual for firmware 3.21.21.21 below. I didn't see SSD thermal output in it, but there are other pieces of cooling information and options.

Hi Dylan,
all I see in iDrac under cooling is:
So, do you see the Temps of your HDDs in iDrac?
To me it looks like iDrac doesn't care about SSD/HDD Temps and theres also no way to get the temps somehow and monitor them.
I have this PowerEdge T440 which I love, but I wish it would have more fans specially for SSDs. There is only one big fan, which is pretty far away on the other site of case...
When running idle, SSD gets to 50 Celcius. I will have to increase the fan manually so they don't get hotter than 60 Celsius in production...
Best Regards

I didn't. The thought I was having was that MAYBE - big maybe - a thermistor was built into the SSDs and the firmware would allow it to provide reporting based on that sensor. That having been said, if you don't see it there, I can't identify any other location where that data would make sense to be.
There might be a software monitoring option for the drives, because the ePSA would have to be querying something to get that data. But, I wouldn't be able to make a recommendation (not from withholding any information, I'm just not educated enough to make a recommendation in good faith).
Speaking to the operating temperature, the figures I have seen say you're good up to 70 Celsius. That having been said, I absolutely understand trying to keep everything as cool as possible.
