Unsupported TPM hardware (Dell PowerEdge C6420)
I am in the process of installing some TPM chips in a Dell PowerEdge C6420 server. I have TPM <Private data removed from public view. DELL-Admin> which i confirmed with Dell support is the correct part number. One of my servers recognized the chip with no issues, but my other server is showing "Unsupported TPM Hardware" in the bios security settings. I've swapped the TPM out with my vendor but still having this issue. Also tried to do a bios upgrade. Is there a way to force the TPM to reset?

Hi,
Can you let me know again the TPM part number again, without the "0" at the front. Also, can you check mainboard part number.
I don't think there is a way to reset TPM, was there a TPM before on the C6420? You might need to confirm the TPM module is new. Once the TPM plug-in module is installed, it is cryptographically bound to that specific system board. Any attempt to remove an installed TPM plug-in module breaks the cryptographic binding, the removed TPM cannot be reinstalled or installed on another system board.

Hi,
Can I check what OS are you running on? Where does the error pop out? Possible to get a screenshot of it?
Is the BIOS set to UEFI boot mode? What is the BIOS version, is it up to date? Have you verified that the TPM module is new, that it has not been installed on other units?
