PowerEdge T310 RAM upgrade

Hi guys,

i am going through a nightmare trying to upgrade my server with new RAM.

Currently installed RAM :

I cannot use this one (that should normally work), the computer does not want to start when this one is use (only one, both of them, or mixed with the older one... ) :

Any idea please ?

thank you very much

Your new memory are RDIMMS as apposed to UDIMMS.

Your processor Intel Core I3 530(or 540) does not support RDIMMS..

Only the Xeon Processors on the T310(and R310) support RDIMMS.

For more information, see this similar thread on the R310 (same memory and limitation as the T310).

Hi there. We'll be glad to help.  Can you try another picture of the new DIMM? We would need to clearly see the part numbers in order to cross reference them.

The Dimm support on the T310 and R310 is very picky.

RDimms are only supported with Xeon processors on the T310.

x4 and x16 DRAMs on RDIMM are not supported on the T310 or R310.

x4 DRAM on UDIMM and quad rank UDIMM are  not supported on the T310 or R310.

It would be more clear what is causing the problem if you gave the model # of the new Dimms and your processor model.

ServerDude is correct.  You can't mix RDIMMs and UDIMMs and your processor does not support RDIMMs which is why it wouldn't POST with just the single RDIMM installed.

Go with the original UDIMM part number and you won't have any issues.
