PowerEdge T150 Memory issues

I have a T150 that has been running "32GB (1X32GB) DDR4 3200MHZ PC4-25600 2Rx8 1.2V 288-PIN ECC Unbuffered UDIMM" in the A1 Slot for the last 8 months. I went to finish upgrading the memory to the max capability of 128 GB using dual-rank memory. After installing all four memory slots, it gets stuck in "Loading Bios Drivers." After extensive troubleshooting, moving modules around, and even checking each stick by itself in A1, I found it boots fine. The only combination that works is 32 GB memory sticks in A1, A3, and A4 with a total of 96GB of memory. If I put a stick in A2 the server does not boot.

Is the A2 slot bad? Thoughts?

Hi,

After reading on what you have wrote about the troubleshooting you have done, it sounds you have a bad slot. But at times, if the slot is not populated with memory filler before the upgrade, you may have a corroded slot pin. Maybe what you can try is to clean the slot, that's what I would do on my PC, but you have to be careful.

If you installed A1 and A2, A2 slot is not detecting any memory right? Since you have tested every memory on A1, that narrows the possibility of bad memory module. How about the server's BIOS and firmware, are they up to date? What processor are you using? Have you tried clearing NVRAM? Ref: https://dell.to/4e7OXyj
