PERC H710 Mini creating new VD using disks from previous VD
Hello,
I have a question as said in title. Currently I have a RAID5 VD that has 7 disks. This VD is in failed status because two of those disks are listed as missing. I have replaced them and now they are ready. I want to delete this VD and use those two disks that are ready + those 5 disks that are currently in this failed VD. I ma aware that disks will be erased. I just want to make sure that if I delete this failed VD, I will be able to make a new one with those disks, correct? If I delete VD will those disks be in ready status and I will be able to make a new VD?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
In general, based on your description, yes, you would be able to use the optimal 5 disk that was from a failed VD to add into the new 2 disk, making total of 7 disk into a new VD. Do remember to check the box on initialize VD while you're in the VD creation process. Page 44: https://dell.to/47gnOak
I will be assuming that you are using the 2 new disk, same specification of the existing 5 disk. Else you would be encountering performance issue. Page 9 of the user guide above.
Also, it is recommended to use Dell certified disk to avoid any PERC error, as the certified disk contain firmware that allows the PERC to communicate.
