a) HOw do I fill up ram? same ram for both cpus? and then go down the channels? ie if i have 4 sticks then chan A and B on both procs for DIMM 0? running in dual channel i suppose or do I need to do DIMM 0 ChAN A,B,C
10 4-way servers are not cheap. Why are you not using the hardware support services included with your purchase? You will likely get far faster results from talking with them, than posting on the general forums here.
Dell hardware support would probably send out a tech next-day with a pile of replacement parts, if your situation is really bad.
I'm seeing something similar. We recently updated to the latest BIOS and BMC firmware. Had to revert the BMC's to 1.28 as 1.29 bricked the devices. Now I'm seeing 15 nodes (Out of a few thousand) which are missing DIMMS. By this I mean I have 24Gb installed (CPU0 DIMM0, Chan A,B,C - and CPU1 DIMM0, Chan A,B,C) but all that ever reported is 20GB. DMIDECODE reports that one slot , that has a DIMM, is empty. I have swapped DIMMs and removed DIMMs, and regardless, the same slot is always reported as empty. As well, my memory is in independent mode (only option available). These machine all have original DIMMs. Would clearing the NVRAM have any effect? I also have no errors in the SEL logs to denote any problem. Could this be a CPU which has a damaged memory bus, so it can't see the one slot?

Ejc317,
I think your versions are off, as there is no 1.50 BIOS revision. Please follow these links and update with these, they are the most current versions.
BIOS v1,69 - www.dell.com/.../poweredge-c6100
ESM v1.29 - www.dell.com/.../poweredge-c6100
Let me know how that goes.
Also, if you wish to update the remainder of the system you can get the downloads here - www.dell.com/.../poweredge-c6100

The server shows 1.50 - I understand 1.69 is the latest ...
Also getting a ram issue - 4GB x 12 DIMMs in the server - and shows up as 40. Put 36gb in and only shows 32gb
The manual is very confusing as to what order to fill the bays with, etc

The only mode in bios seems to be independent
1033 DDR3 4GB RAM
They are currently in
PROC 0 - DIMM 0 CHAN A, B, C and DIMM1 CHAN A B C
PROC 1 - DIMM 0 CHAN A B C
my question beyond this is
a) HOw do I fill up ram? same ram for both cpus? and then go down the channels? ie if i have 4 sticks then chan A and B on both procs for DIMM 0? running in dual channel i suppose or do I need to do DIMM 0 ChAN A,B,C
and can I mix across channels? or across dimms

What Memory Mode are you using? Also can you be specific on the dimms, in regards to Mhz and ranking?

Is this an upgrade, or original dimms?
Is it displaying 1033, or is that what the dimm is?

Original - 1033 is fine. I think the slot is broken - We put in 12 sticks it shows only 40GB of RAM instead of 48GB
