PSU r730xd/r540
Hi!
Ideally I want to be able to use 1 AC PSU and 1 DC PSU for a r730xd server but I've learned that this is not possible. So when trying to use 2 DC PSU (Astec Power 1100W model E1100D-S0 Rev A00-00) the server starts and I see Initialize PCI, USB and Video on the attached monitor and after that message the servers shuts down and both DC PSU start to blink which should mean that there are some mismatch in the configuration.
Back with AC PSU and start server and then I see this error in the event log: PWR1006: The system halted because system power exceeds capacity in combination with the previous shutdown. I have tried the same approach with 3 730xd and they all end up with the same result.
Doing the same with r540 servers I come all the way to pressing F2 for System setup and then servers shut down and both DC PSU indicate mismatch. LC log:
PWR2265: The power supply unit (PSU) 2 is disabled because of a configuration mismatch and therefore the PSU is not supported on the server.
Any ideas out there in how to get DC PSU to function in these servers? Or is the real problem that I do not have the correct/supported PSUs?
Regards
Stefan

Sao74,
I think the issue is down to compatibility, as I am not showing that power supply as supported. Now I do show a 1100w DC power supply supported for the R730XD, but its part number is 5G4WK or 450-ADZC.

Sao74,
Would you confirm the part number for the power supply you are trying to install, as well as if the server is up to date on BIOS, iDrac, etc?
Let me know.

well its a suggestion coming from a field guy do not try to install DC power supply in place of AC or a high-wattage power brick to the system, it will also cause a short circuit and you really dont want that.
rest clear the NVRAM and then try with the recommended Power supply.

Hi!
iDRAC says 0D4NX6A00 in the Part number column. PSU label DP/N 0D4NX6.
Server is indeed up to date regarding BIOS and all other available fw/sw in Dell update catalog (server updated via Dell OME).

Hi @sao74,
I don't think you should use D4NX6 in PowerEdge, as it is for switches.

Hi!
I haven't found any useful info on that part number. Where have you seen that number listed for switches? We have a couple of different Dell switches here and that PSU does not fit any of them.
