Regarding RMAN backup from FRA and the DD Boost functionality, and leaving aside the incremental merge. The RMAN command “backup backupset” can be used to backup an RMAN backup set to an SBT device. So using DD Boost, as an “SBT” device to copy a backup set from FRA to DD would work.

Answer from Matt Kaberlein:
CRS and voting disks has subnet and host info and this is different in DR site.
Data, redo, ctl file is what needs to be replicated.
In 11g Create a +grid (or whatever you want to call it) asm disk group or seprate LUN and don't replicate it.
