WiFi for your Dell! Fast, easy and inexpensive!

Hunting for a used or new exotic/proprietary WiFi card?  A "USB" approach keeps things simple! Please consider these too for performance, price and easy installs!

If you need the range, consider this adapter:

AC1200Mbps Network Card USB3.0 Dual Band 2.4G/5G Wifi Adapter 802.11ac Wireless

$11...  with free shipping to your door!  USA Seller...  See more Antenna notes below...

*** Note:  For even greater range add this external YAGI! ***

"2.4GHz 13DBI-15DBI Yagi WLAN WiFi Wireless Antenna for Router for as little as $7.95 if you don't mind waiting awhile... (from Hong Kong).  ALSO NOTE the short cable supplied... A short 'extension cable' is probably in order (so to speak).. but not too long because at these frequencies cables are "lossy".   As I recall the YAGI is about 18" long and intended to be 'directional'  ~ similar to a flashlight.

*** If your Router is close by, consider this Adapter!

1200Mbps USB 3.0 Wireless WiFi Network Receiver Adapter 5GHz Dual Band Dongle

$10.75  (California)

(Note the antenna is built in).

*** IF your Router is close and your Internet speed is medium to slow... I purchased 5 of these for $8.45 (including shipping) for testing and to have handy...  They claim a '300 meter range', but I doubt it.  The added advantage is they use "Realtek" chip(s) inside.  Realtek Drivers are very common... (and many other mfg. ~ not so much).

It's a peppy addition and it actually installed itself in seconds (Windows 10 64 Bit).  I am using one (like this) now and I have no problems with YOUTUBE or other fast data/movies/Netflix etc...  Although I have much faster WiFi USB's, this puppy works great!  This System is a DELL 9010 and my router is across the room.

(China, but many 'USA' sellers too)

Final notes...  For the most part, these are 'Plug n Play' items but some older or exotic Operating Systems may require other specific drivers?

External WiFi antennas can easily be hidden behind your Dell, but the case makes your Adapter/Antenna somewhat 'directional' because the case 'is grounded' via the power cord.  The case won't block all  RF, but it will impact your antenna pattern because the case is 'a reflector'.

Now I know this was posted and said with a rather broad brush and of course there are many other choices, but here it is and I DO hope this helps you!...  Please let me/us know how your new "WiFi" works and hopefully include the Adapter you installed?

Anthony
