Optiplex Micro 7070 Blank Port

Hi there, I have a blank port on the back of my new Optiplex 7070 Micro. My PC haas 2 x DPs but no HDMI port. I managed to source a HDMI port from Dell to go into the blank port.

I'm looking for advice on how to actually free up the blank port so I can install this new part. The blank port is metal and I'm not too sure how to actually break through it to install the new part.

Any advice would be appreciated. I tried posting a link to a picture but that doesn't seem to be allowed on this forum.

Thanks in advance,

Alex

It has an X in it because you take a large screw driver and twist/pop it out.

The port is held in place via screws.

See service manual page 38 where it shows how to install

This is a one way trip.  If you later take the optional  port out it leaves a DB9 hole.

@abouc: Welcome to Dell Community, Actually Optiplex Micro 7070 desktop PC has optional HDMI port. As you can find Serial Number 4 with it's description in below image.

So if your PC has no HDMI port than you have 2 options:

  • Purchase a GPU that should have HDMI port and place it to PCI Express Port.
  • Purchase a converter that will convert VGA or HDMI (example in below image)

Hi thanks for this. It isn’t quite what I was looking for...I have the part and I want to install the part into the blank port slot but can’t work out how you get through the metal blank port.

Many thanks

Alex
