OptiPlex 780 : cable for the internal card reader

OptiPlex 780

OptiPlex 780

Hello.

I want to upgrade my good old Optiplex 780 Desktop form factor, by adding an internal media card reader. I found a used one (ref OW812M) and it fits inside, but I dont have the cable.

I do not know what is the official reference of the cable . I dont want to buy a cable that may be to short for the central unit.

I have found several references (FH439, GH439, XN068, NT424) but I was wondering if there is an universal cable  compatible ("flex bay" cable).

So, what may be the cable reference to connect a OW812M card media reader into an Optiplex 780 Desktop ?

Thank you !

I couldn't disconnect the cable from the back of the card reader to show that plug.

If your card reader is the same as mine, link or photos should help you find a cable.

I Googled the part # above closest to the one I have and came up with:  https://www.disctech.com/Dell-FH439-14in-9-pin-Flex-Bay-Media-Card-Reader-Cable?partner=1011&gclid=Cj0KCQiAiJSeBhCCARIsAHnAzT_4ZiM72IeDo_o8yLnOZ4aHN28yAxva-GwcvDSnf_UuzDYdkwBZICQaAl0MEALw_wcB

It just so happens I used to have a 755 that I replaced the card reader with USB 3.0.  I can't sell on ebay though since it doesn't work with an account I have, yet buying does.  Otherwise, I'd list the cable and link it.

Thank you all for your answers. Now I know the different readers compatible with 780 (I was not aware that several references were sold). I will post a picture of the reader later. My concern now is to find a reseller with acceptable shipping fees to France .

Definitely post photos.  Especially in case your card reader isn't one listed by redxps.  And now I know Dell used different models also.

Too bad you didn't get one with a cable.  I found one without the cable for $8 USD on Amazon, and with the cable for $7.83.

Here are some pictures. I can't find a reseller selling only the cable with a good price (shipping cost are expensive). I will wait for some used parts on Bay or something.

Yah, after posting the photos and reading redxps' post, I had a feeling your card reader might be different.  I can't tell if the card reader connection is the same as mine since I couldn't disconnect the cable.
