Optiplex 755 MT, modded E5450 CPU?
Is it true that this processor will work in socket type LGA775, an Optiplex 755? Please see screengrabs. I couldn't copy & paste.

You are correct, the Quad is faster because of the cores and architecture. For example the Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 GHz has 24% better performance than the Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0 GHz.
This site lends a bit more information and is a great source for comparing GPUs and CPUs.
https://www.game-debate.com/cpu/index.php?pid=19&pid2=15&compare=core-2-quad-q6600-2-4ghz-vs-core-2-duo-e8400-3-0ghz
As far as working on your motherboard, according to the following chart it would appear the answer is no to a modded CPU.

@JOcean,
There is no reference in that post to a modified E5450, modified for fit. I already know that a Q9650 will fit. Issue is price range. I don't have the budget for a newer computer either. But figured a quad would take care of a couple of slow issues. Also, an Intel Core 2 Quad 2.5GHz is faster than a 3.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, isn't it?
Speedstep's berating post was not a good memory. It should've been deleted along with the whole thread. It also referenced a QX9650, which I did not reference.

I believe this was answered in a previous post linked below.

Thanks to you too for the info!
With modded CPU's being sold on eBay, I wanted to check with Dell Community first.
I changed the original subject line for other readers.

My apologies...I saw the 9650 reference and assumed that it was a similar request...my bad. Another instance of my jumping to conclusions...I have sprained many a virtual ankle doing just that in my career.

Thanks. Wasn't expecting an apology, so that was nice of you. I've concluded too quick on a couple of occasions myself. Best for me not to stay up too late doing this.>

Hey @bradthetechnut,
Found this thread regarding a successful case of modded Xeon E5450 install on a motherboard with the Socket 775. This guy even overclock it to 3.6Ghz! Fast enough, right? I believe it should be ok that CPU upgrade for an Optiplex 755 MT in this way.
Another thread here shows an Optiplex 755 user replace CPU with a X3363, and rated faster than both the Core 2 Quad Q9650 and the Xeon E5450. Worth to read.

I ultimately decided on a Q9650. It ain't no i7 like I really want, but game-debate showed a 64% improvement over the duo.
Info on a modded Xeon can be a little conflicting and I'm not in a position where I have to push my PC beyond it's limits. I still liked receiving the info. Thanks again @JOcean and @bmcowboy.
When I went from a dual to quad with a smartphone upgrade, what huge difference!
I'm hoping I can put the CPU in and not have to reload anything. I have A22 BIOS.
