Optiplex 5080 Tower best CPU upgrade
Hi, I'm looking for cpu upgrade on Optiplex 5080 Tower. From Dell's technical guide I know that the best cpu is i7-10700.
Is it possible to use something better, newer? Or is this board can use CPU without integrated graphics (like i7-10700F) ?

@AndiB10 That's exactly the manual I was talking about and it does not answer any of my questions. Thanks.

5080 is limited to 10th gen CPU. Besides socket, there's other factors like MB and chipset.
So I checked userbenchmark and didn't see the 'f' version being used.

I am not sure of what would make i7-10700F better than i7-10700 but should i9-10900K be considered the best CPU in Comet Lake family. So, in this case, you should try an i9-10900F for your upgrade.

One doesn't need to use an i7-10700F in order to use a GPU card.
No guarantees, but Q470 chipset and socket support the i7-10700F and the i9-10900F.

chino is correct. using the benchmark link quoted by brad, i9-10900 is validated by user in 5080 although it was not mentioned in Dell spec.
it is quite likely that 10900k or 10900kf are c/w 5080 too, but there is no evidence to validate this claim yet. in addition there is the oem i9-10910.
i9-10900 is released at same time as i7-10700. 10900 is a little better and it sure sounds much greater.
one reason to consider the -f cpu is if you already have a powerful gpu and you want to save a few bucks on cpu. 10900f is slightly cheaper than 10900. Intel msrp $422 vs $438. but I do not suggest it because having the -f cpu makes it more tricky to problems boot a motherboard that produces no video.
