How do I use the built-in HDMI as boot video?
I inherited an Optiplex 7090 with a monitor connected to one of the Displayport connectors. It runs Windows 11.
I bought a monitor that can use HDMI.
I want the monitor plugged into the hdmi port to be primary output ( boot messages and display 1 under Windows.
Do I have to make a change at the BIOS level to get this done? Since having only the HDMI monitor powered on when I booted got me no video.

not sure that option is present in BIOS to favor one onboard port vs the other for POST Dell logo video (primary). if I understand correctly, the PC raw video are both DP. the HDMI actually comes from a DP to HDMI converted on mobo. I know this from multiple Dell mobo schematics.
In that case, the default video may be the straightforward DP port.
If HDMI primary is essential, try install a simple video card that has DP, and connect one monitor to video card DP, while the other monitor to onboard HDMI. in BIOS choose primary video btn onboard vs dGPU. "Determines the primary display when multiple controllers are available on the computer
By default, the Auto option is enabled."
In my HP where there is both onboard and discrete video card both with DP, bios has option to choose one or the other.
