Dell Optiplex 790 DisplayPort monitor daisy chain
I have a Dell Optiplex 790 (Out of Dell warranty)
I have x2 Dell U2312HM Monitors
The Dell Optiplex 790 has x1 DisplayPort out and a DMS-59 graphics card. I have a DMS-59 Adaptor to dual DisplayPort out:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00Q6DO0YC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
My two options are (as far as I can see):
Dell Optiplex 790 DisplayPort out to U2312HM Monitor 1 - Daisychain DisplayPort - U2312HM Monitor 2
Dell Optiplex 790 DMS-59 card / dual DisplayPort adapter - U2312HM Monitor 1 / U2312HM Monitor 2 (no daisy chain)
My question is, which is going to give me better results?
I'm using this machine for design work. Adobe CC InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator.
The monitors maximum resolution is 1920 x 1080.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Adobe CC InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator require PRECISION Workstation and QUADRO Video Adapter.
https://www.amazon.com/HP-713379-001-NVIDIA-Quadro-graphics/dp/B00G2G29U0/
Adobe has tested the laptop and desktop versions of the following graphics processor card series:
4 monitors running at resolution of 1920 x 1080 or 1920 x 1200 is possible with Display Port 1.4 MST on a REAL GPU. You cannot do mulitple 4k monitors in this fashion.
Earlier versions of Display port do not support this.
Your FIRST cable, the one that reach from the computer to the first monitor should be 6 feet long and all the ones that connect from one monitor to the other should be shorter 3 feet.
Using Really long cables will result in failure.
INTEL integrated graphics is limited to less than four 1080p monitors. That's an INTEL limitation not a Dell problem.
DMS 59 goes to DUAL DVI or DUAL VGA.
There us NO SUCH THING as DMS59 to DISPLAY PORT.

Many thanks for the reply.
Is this not a DMS-59 to displayport adapter?

The other issue is that ONBOARD Video and using monitors on the DMS59 GPU card is an UNSUPPORTED VIDEO CONFIGURATION.
System halted!
Attention: Unsupported Video Configuration Detected
Action is Required
This computer has an add-in graphics card, but the monitor is plugged
into the integrated video connector.
To attach the monitor cable to the add-in graphics card:
1. Shut down the computer
2. Plug the monitor cable into the add-in graphics card connector.
This may require a video adapter or video adapter cable.
(provided with the system)
3. Turn on the computer.
This message should not appear after completing these steps.
For more information or help, please refer to the system documentation
That is a cable that likely does not work at all. You should also note the picture has 60 not 59 pins. There are also USB to Firewire cables but these too are totally bogus. 12v firewire destroys 5v USB as well as the other way round. Just because you can find something that "does" what you want does not make it real or safe or working. USB to Firewire bi directionally is Bogus and always will be.

Thats because if you try to insert that into a DMS59 the pin that has no hole is not allowing insertion.
DVI is not the same thing as Display port.
Display port is ACTIVE and DVI/VGA is passive.
Display port >>>TO >>>> DVI is possible.
DVI >>>>>TO >>> Display port is not. Its not passive and its not bi directional.

They do not have the same signals.
Display port is NOT Bi directional.
There are Display port to VGA and Display port to DVI but they are One way only.
DMS-59 (Dual Monitor Solution, 59 pins) is generally used for computer video cards. It provides two Digital Visual Interface (DVI) or Video Graphics Array (VGA) outputs in a single connector.

Just as a follow up to this...
I received the adapter, it's DMS Male on one end and x2 female displayport on the other end.
Tested it with 2 different Optiplex 790's.
No signal to monitor(s) at all.
Tested both Optiplex 790's with a DMS / VGA adapter and both machines worked with both monitors.
Removed graphics cards and tested both displayport leads with the Optiplex motherboard displayport out and both leads are fine.
So, essentially, StarTech DMS to DisplayPort adapter does not work - as pointed out by speedstep - above.

Display port and HDMI are Active and require POWER because they have circuits inside.
There is no such thing as DVI to Display port or VGA to Display port because its NOT bi directional.
Analog is not Digital. There are Display port to VGA or DVI but its one way only aka display port OUT to VGA IN.
DMS59 has Dual DVI-A connections. That means you can get DMS 59 to dual DVI or DMS 59 to dual VGA.
This to is NOT bi directional.
