Dell Dimension L550r won't install Windows XP
My Dell Dimension L550r has trouble installing Windows XP, after I tried three hard drives, but it keeps saying that certain files are corrupted. What could bee some possible problems or issues?

@redxps630 My mom believes that it is, but I'm not sure whether I should trust her or not. How do I know if it's genuine or not?

Given the age of the disc, and the likely age of the ROM drive -- either can also cause the problem. If the disc is scratched or the laser in the ROM reader is weak, it can also cause file read issues.

that is a good point I have seen old IDE not recognizing burnt CD but able to detect genuine CD etc. try to replace CD drive with another IDE although you can not be sure of the replacement drive quality either. I have a stash of these legacy half height IDE drives and after three to four bad ones I found a working drive.
