Ram upgrade on T410
We currently have a PowerEdge T410 with windows Server 2008R2 x64, we tried to upgrade the memory to 128GB when installing the rams it recognized the 128 but it only shows 32GB as usable, before ordering the memory sticks we talked to Dell support and they confirmed that the system can handle the 128 but as of now we are unable to utilize the full 128

Hello
There are multiple versions of Windows 2008R2 that are limited to 32GB of memory. You are most likely running one of those versions. If the memory is detected and available in the BIOS but not the operating system then the operating system is not able to utilize all available memory.
Thanks

yes the bios is detecting them but not the operating system but when I checked with Dell when before buying the RAM using my service tag they stated I should be able to support it, so what options do I have now do I need to upgrade my operating system and if so to which one that can support this amount of RAM

If you need an operating system that supports more memory than your current operating system then yes, you will need to upgrade to a different OS. You can review the support matrix to see which operating systems are supported on your system:

You can research the capabilities of the operating system on the manufacturer's support site. If you need help planning your upgrade then I suggest hiring a consultant. You can contact our sales department to see if we offer such a service. If we do not offer the service directly one of our partners may:
