Wireless card for my laptop

Question

I need wireless cards for my laptops with a range of over 2000 feet. It should be able to work out in the open with trees and buildings. I want to cluster several laptops. Can I use any of Dell Truemobile 1400 cards?. Can they be attached to an external antenna?. If anyone has tried or know about it, please let me know.  I want to use them in an adhoc configuration. It is kind of weird requirement. TIA

I can tell you no commercial wireless cards have a range over 1000' and that is in a totally clear area.  PCMCIA cards can be modified with connectors and external antenna easier to increase the ranged.  What are you trying to do over 2000'?
