Hi bofish,
If the system is shipped with a wireless card, it will detect all the wireless networks in range. The unsecured network that you are talking about can be one of your neighbour's. Until you are using your network connection with password on it and security software installed on the system the connection is secured.
Please reply if you have any questions.

bofish,
DELL-Saharsh K has answered your question a few days ago. Please rely back to this thread, by clicking on the blue subject amd DELL-Saharsh K can assis you further.
You need to setup a wireless router so it's secure. Once it is secure, then no other people can connect to your network except the people you give the password to.
If you know the name of your network, you should see a lock on your network name.
If you have other questions, please reply and DELL-Saharsh K will assist you. Please do not create a new thread as it only confuses everyone giving different advice.
Thank you,
Rick
