S2440L, Windows 11, power save mode?
I have a “legacy” 12 year old S2440L Dell monitor which is not supported for Windows 11. The last supported operating systems was Windows Vista/7/8. I’m using a Surface Pro tablet. The S2440L keeps going in and out of power save mode. Is there a driver out there that will enable me to use that monitor or is it a paperweight?
Thank you.

The monitor should not need a driver -- it should stay on as long a video signal is detected. Does it behave the same way with another system?
If not, it could be an issue with your notebook -- but it could also be a failing monitor or a dying DC power supply.

@ejn63 Thank you. Your answer has me wondering why, over the years, I received numerous updates to the dell software for the monitor.

Probably because new monitors are added all the time -- and Windows does use a driver (if available) to negotiate resolution. That's not the issue here -- it sounds like a power issue more than anything.
