Network Speed Problems

I have purchased an Inpsiron 15-3567, I have looked at the network properties and have learned that the speed does not allow anything past 100Mbps. My questions are:

1. Is the network card or adapter (which ever is the correct term) connected to the motherboard?

2. Can I upgrade this so I can get faster speeds on this laptop?
