Inspiron 1300 Wireless connection with WEP encryption
Hi, Anyone out there.
I have a new Inspiron 1300 and have also purchased a Netgear DG834G wireless router. After many hours!!! I have finally succeded in connecting to my Broadband connection and, providing I disable any encryption, can now communicate quite happily with the Internet via the wireless connection on the router.
However when I enable the WEP encryption (within the router and setup in the Inspiron) I am OK for about eight minutes, then I loose the connection. I can only re-establish this by re-booting the Inspiron completely or by a great deal of clicking of boxes, the sequence of which I havent yet determined (seems to be an element of luck about it!)
Once in this state, the monitor icon in bottom RH of screen has a cross against it and the bar indicator shows zero strength. Other times, even though the monitor icon has the cross and message says no connection, I can still communicate quite happily, so I dont know what to believe.
Please, has anyone out there got any ideas, or perhaps similar experiance? I repeat, without the encryption I have no problem.

Looks as though I have fixed the above problem myself (re Inspiron 1300 and wireless router). Having got nowhere in several days I decided to abandon WEP encryption altogether, which I had attempted initially because it seemed to be the simplest option!
I thought I would attempt the WPA-PSK route. To my surprise the router took me five minutes or less to configure, and the Inspiron half that time, I connected with the internet immediately and have had no problems ever since. It seems to be the first thing that has gone right since I first heard the term 'wireless router'! I'm looking around for a piece of wood to touch!!!
